RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

As educators in the Catholic Faith, we continually strive to help students learn about and experience God's personal love for them. The Religious Education Program seeks to help parents in their child's growth of their understanding and knowledge of our Catholic faith. The role of the Catechist is an essential part of the Program in that they prepare and encourage students to assume their Christian role in the Church and society. If you feel called to volunteer as a Catechist and to spread the love of God to children, or if you would like to help out in the Religious Education Office please contact Tania Gonzalez, Ceclilia Fernandez or Erik Cofino at 305-665-6862..

Statement of Principles
We seek to offer children and young people an experience of catechesis which gives "clarity and vigor" to faith, fosters living in the spirit of Christ, encourages participation in the Liturgy and Sacraments, and motivates involvement in the Apostolate. (From: To Teach as Jesus Did) We seek to guide and assist parents in the religious education of their children. Our efforts are to help parents in the child's growth in faith, knowledge, and love of God and neighbor while developing their moral values, helping them foster a world encompassing vision of the human family, and the Mystical Body of Christ.

In accordance with the teaching of the Church, we strive to help each child develop a keen understanding of God's love for each one, a true spirit of prayer, as well as a tender and loyal devotion to Our Lady and the Church.

 Spiritual Goals
As educators in the Catholic faith, we continually strive to meet the following goals:

 1.     To help students learn about and experience God's personal love for them.

 2.     To help students develop a personal, loving relationship with God through daily prayer, frequent reception of Confession and Communion, and participation in weekly Sunday Mass.

 3.     To help students develop a deep and true devotion to Our Lady.

4.     To help students develop a love of and loyalty to the Catholic Church, embracing their own parish as well as the total human community.

5.     To prepare and encourage students to assume their role in the Church
and society.

 6.     To help students understand, appreciate, and live the meaning of a "faith community".

Objectives

 We strive to:
1.     Provide a well-rounded religious program that develops a sequential knowledge of Catholic doctrines and values.

2.     Guide the students to an awareness of God in self and in others by the use of Sacred Scripture, learning how to pray and how to appreciate special devotions and the Liturgical seasons.

3.     Provide opportunities for the student to learn the role of Our Lady in salvation history, and promote a love for her through the study and appreciation of the rosary.

4.     Provide children with the experience of being a part of the parish community in an atmosphere of faith, love, trust and justice.

5.     Promote an attitude of service based on the Gospel and expressed by participation in parish service activities.

6.     Promote the practice of Christian virtues modeled by Christ our Savior.
